NWSS news from 2016
North West Sussex Seagulls have
now donated over £10,000 in donations to local charities and good causes.
Many enabling young people in our community to enjoy sports and over
activities. The NWSS committee wish to thank all our loyal members for
continuing to travel with us and for buying the Golden Goal tickets on the
coaches, which enables us to help even more where we can.
North West Sussex Seagull were
very pleased to be able to donate £750 towards the Henfield Scout hut appeal.
Over 30 Albion fans regularly travel on coach 1 from Henfield to every Albion
home game and it was nice to be able to support a great cause in their
Albion in the Community
Recently committee members Andy
Stonestreet, Ian Morris and Mike Wilson along with NWSS member Dave Owen were
proud to present a further £1000 to AiTC in aid of their cerebral palsy team.

said. “Visiting the American Express training ground in Lancing for the
presentation was a fantastic opportunity to see the great work Albion in the
Community are doing. We were also able to see first-hand how the donations we
and others make, support so many people to take part and play the game we
love, which was both thrilling and humbling”
4 the Youth
North West Sussex Seagull were
very pleased to be able to donate £500 towards the running of 4 The Youth.
We are very proud to announce
that North West Sussex Seagulls have carried their 15,000th passenger to the
American Express Community Stadium. Maria Salter who is a coach season ticket
holder on coach 1 was officially our 15,000th passenger and she
was presented with a small gift as she arrived at the Amex for the Brentford
Set 4 Success
North West Sussex Seagulls were
once again very pleased to be able to make a donation of £500 to Horsham based
charity Set 4 Success
who help local athletes reach the pinnacle of their particular sporting
Sussex Seagulls AGM
The North West Sussex Seagulls
returned to the Horsham Sports Club to hold their AGM. A well-attended
meeting heard from committee members Andy Stonestreet (Chair) Ian Morris
(Treasurer) and Mike Wilson (Secretary)
that the club was on a firm financial footing. That membership had
grown to almost 400 and coach season ticket booking for the 2016/17 were at
the highest level since the club was founded. During the meeting the
following donation proposals were put to and passed by the members.
Members of NWSS attended a
Heartstart training evening at the Holbrook Club run by Horsham
Community Responders. The three hours spent learning how to deal with a
number emergency situations are probably the most valuable hours I have ever
spent. I would recommend this course to anyone. I hope I don’t ever have to
use what I learnt but if I do, I feel a lot more confident that I will be
able to help.

A little over 2 months since
the dramatic events at the start of the AiTC fund raising evening Peter
Brackley is back at the Holbrook Club to officially open the new Public
Access Defibrillator (PAD) donated by NWSS. Our friends from Horsham First
Responders, Marc and Hilary joined life savers Alex, Jonny and Anita together
with AiTC CEO Gary Townsend.
When Albion fans needed help in their battle to remove Bill
Archer and David Bellotti from power, Charlton fans turned out in their 100s
for the Fans United day at the Goldstone and when they needed help Albion
fans returned the favour.
Horsham first Responders were presented with a cheque by
Albion in the Community in gratitude for their help in saving the life of
Peter Brackley during the fund raising event at the Holbrook Club. Marc and
Hilary from the Responders were guests of AiTC at the home game vs QPR and
the cheque was presented to them on the pitch at half-time but AiTC CEO Gary
Townsend. Peter was their together with Anita, Jonny and Alex who worked so
hard to keep Peter with us until the first responders arrived.

Evening at the Bull
The 2nd annual NWSS Pizza and
Skittles evening took place at the Bull Inn in Shermanbury. A great evening
was had by all especially the eventual winners pictured below. Mike Wilson
was quick to point out that he now needed an extra display cabinet to show
off all the cups and medals he had won.

Meeting at the Amex
NWSS were very pleased to have
been asked to attend an audience with Brighton and Hove Albion FC CEO Paul
Barber at the American Express Community Stadium. Members of NWSS together
with two other supporters groups were given the opportunity to ask the Chief
Executive questions about the Albion and football in general. As always Paul
answered every question put to him frankly and openly.
Broadbridge Heath U10s
North West Sussex Seagulls
donated £350.00 to Broadbridge Heath Under 10’s football team. Under 10’s
manager Paul Francis thanked NWSS for their ‘fantastic donation’ which has
enabled the purchase of some desperately needed hooded training tops for all
of the team’s young players.
Albion in the
Community Fund Raiser
NWSS were asked by AiTC if we
would like to hold a fund raising event hosted by Peter Brackley with Guy Butters
and Gary O’Reilly as guests. Little did we know how dramatic the evening
would turn out!
The ever popular North West Sussex
Seagulls Christmas party took place on the 17th Dec at Stooks
Restaurant in Horsham. 60 NWSS members gathered for the traditional festive
get together, many sporting Christmas jumpers. Great fun was had by all,
helped by great food, company and a little alcohol. A raffle took place with
many of the prizes being donated by those attending the meal, all proceeds of
the raffle will be donated to good local causes and charities.
